Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fahrettin GÖKTAŞ, published a message on the anniversary of the Elazığ Earthquake that occurred on January 24, 2020. The message from our Rector Prof. Dr. GÖKTAŞ is as follows:

"Today, we are marking the anniversary of the Elazığ Earthquake that deeply affected all of us on January 24, 2020. This tragic event once again demonstrated how strong our unity, solidarity, and love for each other are as a nation. As Fırat University, we stood by our people during the earthquake, working together with our academicians, administrative staff, and students. Through our technical efforts, scientific contributions, and teams involved in damage assessment, we provided all the support we could during this challenging period. After the earthquake, we continued our work to minimize the effects of the disaster and prevent similar tragedies in the future by offering our scientific knowledge and experience to the service of our city and country. Our university will continue to work decisively, both with its educational activities and scientific research, for the region and the country to have an earthquake-resistant future. On this occasion, I once again remember the citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake with mercy and offer my condolences and patience to their families. I also wish a healthy and peaceful life to our brothers and sisters who survived the disaster and continue their lives. As Fırat University, I would like to express that we will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our people and provide all the support we can.
